This page reflects the rest of our lives - what we occasionally mention at the farmers' markets or as we dart in the back of restaurant kitchen and call out "lettuce is in the cooler - gotta go 'cause we are having company for dinner tonight!" -- pets, harp recitals, graduations, long distance kith and kin, frustrations, hopes, successes, failures - in short, a little context for that head of lettuce or box of microgreens you just ate.
Our dog Auron joined us as a puppy in the summer of 2005. After dark one evening, Mark had sent eldest daughter Sarah to the front shed to get some apples from the cooler out there. She came back asking for a flashlight, and then she came back reporting that THREE puppies were in a large crate in the shed. Thus was opened the Fort Mill Humane Society Auxiliary Branch on Zoar Road. We gave Auron's two brothers away to a friend a few days later, but we kept him, and he is a great example of faithfulness, loyalty, perseverance, and gentleness. He loves cat food and barks like crazy when the UPS truck comes down the road. He may eventually rate his own page on the website.
